Jaguar E-Pace will be unveiled live in London tonight
The new baby SUV was revealed last night after generating huge amounts of interest due to the massive success of the F-Pace which won World Car of the Year 2017.
It is also the second SUV Jaguar has ever made which adds to the hype surrounding the car.
At the event it was unveiled that E-Pace won a Guinness World Record for doing the longest barrell roll in a production vehicle.
Behind the wheel was stunt driver Terry Grant, who hold 21 Guinness World Record already.
Terry said: “As far as I am aware no production car has ever cleanly completed a bona-fide barrel roll and therefore it has always been an ambition of mine to perform one ever since I was a boy.
“After driving the Jaguar F-PACE in the record-breaking loop-the-loop, it has been amazing to help launch the next chapter of the PACE family in an even more dramatic dynamic feat.”
The car jumped 25 metres, something which has never been done before, thanks to its suspension design.
Also at the event, Pete Tong and the Heritage Orchestra performed a number of hits to celebrate the launch of the new SUV.
The Radio 1 DJ performed a number of Ibiza classics with a full orchestra much to the delight of those in attendance and people who watched the event online.
Jaguar announced the car’s full specs, price and its design which has been kept under wraps until now.
At the event tonight the E-Pace was revealed to come with five powertrain options including one 300PS Ingenium petrol engine and three efficient diesel engines.
The top of the range 300PS petrol can sprint from 0-62mph in just 5.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 151mph.
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel powerplant is available in 150PS, 180PS and 240PS outputs and the other petrol powertrain has an output of 249PS.
Jaguar’s Active Driveline all-wheel drive system is also included on the E-Pace which is a first for the car manufacturer.
The E-Pace will go on sale from £28,500
It’s exterior and interior styling was inspired by both the F-Pace, which won World Car of the Year, and the F-Type sports car.
It’s silhouette and side profile is inspired directly from the F-Pace SUV while its front-end and nose echoes the design of the sporty F-Type.
This carries on inside the car with the overall look and feel being directly borrowed from the larger F-Pace while the instrument panels and side panels being influenced by the F-Type.
Jaguar boast the car’s connectivity with the addition of a large 12.3-inch full colour TFT driver touchscreen display and a new Head-up display, implemented to reduce driver distraction.
A 4G Wi-Fi hotspot has also been added to the vehicle which allows eight users to connect at once.
R-Dynamic interior upgrades add in sports style seats and brushed stainless steal peddles to emphasise its sporting character.
Exterior upgrades on the E-Pace include a slightly more stand out style with deeper air intakes in the bumper and the addition of foglight.
Body-coloured sills and lower rear bumper surfaces with a Gloss Black rear valance and the satin chrome detailing on the front grille surround and the fender vents provides the finishing touches.
Customer orders are now open with the car priced from £28,500 in the UK.
